BLAER: Here lyeth ye body of Brise Blaer who dyed May ye 4th 1740 aged 72 years. Also Ganet Blaer who dyed May ye 1s 1740 aged 74 years and Martha CAMBL dyed ye 7th May 1729 aged 34 years.

BLAIR: (U.J.A. VI, 167. Arms: on a saltire five mascles, in the chief a mullet, in the base a garb, in the flanks each an increscent all within a tressure. Crest:-a stag courant. Motto:- Amos Probos).Here lyeth the body of Samuel Blair of Bellyvoloch who died March the 20th 1754 aged 87 years. Danial Blair, son, Patrick and Danial Blair grand sons of the above Samuel Blair and their wives all lieth here. All above 80 years. Also Daniel Blair great-grand-son of the above aged 81 years. And his wife Jane LYLE aged 76 years. Two graves north.

MottoL-Amos Probos) Here lyeth the body of William Blair who departed this life May 26th 1788 aged 73 years. Also his son Abraham Blair who departed this life the 3rd of May 1802 aged 48 years. And another son named Samuel Blair who departed this life the 8th of November 1824 aged 78 years. Also his son Samuel Blair aged 2 years.

BLAIR: (Steeply tilted). Erected by William Blair of Ballyvalough in memory of his daughter Mary Rea Blair who died 15th July 1818 aged 16 months. Also his son James who died 8th July 1820 aged 4 months. BLAIR: (Fallen stone in front of Patrick Blair).Erected inmemory of Mary Blair, wife of the late Samuel Blair of Ballyvallough, who departed this life 15th March 1832 aged 75 years. Also her eldest daughter Isabella WOODS, wife of the late Arthur Woods of Lower Falls, Belfast, who departed this life 22nd January 1856 aged 69 years.

BLAIR: (U.J.A. VI, 167, Small loose stone with arms:-per fess in the base a saltire, in a canton a goblet). Erected (by) Thomas Blair in memory of his son John Blair who departed this life on the 28th (of May 1845) aged 2 years &..months.

BLAIR: (Next to Samuel Blair, d. 1866). Erected by Patrick Blair of Ballyvallough in memory of his son John who died 9th October 183(2) in the second yea(r) of his (l)ife. Also the above Patrick Blair who departed this life on the ...of January 184(5) aged 4(0) years. And his wife Martha Blair who died 23rd May 1850 aged 45 years.

In memory of Crawford Blair, surgeon, b. 1821, d. 1876, for 21 years medical officer of Ballynure Dispensary District. Jane ORR his wife b. 1824 d. 1872 John --son b. 1847 d. 1848 John---b. 1849 d. 1851 Henry McMeekin b. 1853 d. 1855 Samuel b. 1845 d. 1876 Esther Jane Blair, born 22nd April 1861, died 6th April 1926 Ellen Wilson Blair, born 11th April 1866, died 2nd July 1926. (Second side). In memory of the following children of the said Crawford Blair who lie elsewhere. William Park, born 24 August 1856, died 31st August 1902 at Ballynure. George Wilson, born 19th Feb. 1859, died 29th Apr. 1915 at Sherburne, Durham. John Crawford, born 21st Sept. 1871, died 16th Nov. 1918 at Ballylinney. Andrew James, born 19th December 1851, died 2 June 1924 at Ballynure.

BLAIR: (Flaking stone). Erected by Samuel Blair (of Ballyvallough in memory of Esther his loving wife who) died 4th Ma(y) 185(.) aged (.8) y(ears). She trod the path of ........ The whole course of her life She was a tender mother Likewise a loving wife Also the above Samuel Blair who died 2nd March 1866 aged (.2) years.

BLAIR: (Next to the above). In affectionate remembrance of Daniel Blair of Ballyvallough who departed this life 19th May 1864 aged 48 years. The weary world of grief and toil He willingly did leave, Depending of the blood of Christ His precious soul to save.

CRAFOVRD/CRAWFORD: (Small narrow stone). Here lyeth the body of Nancie BLARE wefe of Patrick Crafovrd Febry. 21st Arie 1691.

LOCK: (U.J.A.m VI, 171. Arms:-a chevron, two padlocks in chief, a heart in base. Crest:- a boar's head erased. Motto:- Corda Serata Pando). Erected in memory of David Lock, late of Ballyvallough, who departed this life the 27th of June 1818 aged 65 years. Also his son James Lock, who died 23rd April 1840 aged 46 years. Also his daughter Mary who died in infancy. Also his wife Sarah, who died 29th December 1846 aged 80 years. Also their daughter Jenney Blair, who departed this life on 11th May 1888 aged 82 years. "Not gone from memory nor from love But to their father's home above."


BALLYVALLOUGH - County Antrim

BLAIR: The location of this grave is the farmers wish to be buried in his own farmyard. It is in the townland of Ballyvallagh and on the farm now designated as 29 Ballyvallagh Road, worked by W. J. Penny in 1981. Erected by Jemima Blair in affectionate remembrance of her loving husband Daniel Blair who departed this life 25th March aged 62 years.

BLAIR: Erected by Mary Ellen Blair in memory of her beloved husband Samuel Blair who died 21st April 1877 aged 76 years. ALso her son John who died 1st June 1888 aged 37 years. Also her son Willaim James Blair who died 7th April 1920 aged 74 years. And Elizabeth wife of the above William James Blair died 28th April 1932 aged 81 years. Margaret Blair died 13th March 1969. Robert Blair died 25th March 1969. Long remembered by his children in California. Mary Ellen Blair died 21st July 1948.

BLAIR: Erected by John H. Blair in memory of his grandmother Mary E. Blair who died 25th Sep. 1898 aged 95 years. Also his wife Janie Blair who died 26th January 1944 aged 59 years. The above named John H. Blair died 13th February 1951 aged 71 years.

DAVIS: Mary Davis BLAIR died 20th June 1919 aged 72 years. ALso her daughter Maggie A. Blair who died 10th Nov. 1920 aged 53 years. [d/o Adam and Margaret Davis]

REA: Jane Blair is listed as wife of Robert Rea who died 31st Aug 1817. Jane Blair [nee ?] died 5th of May 1820 aged 73 years.


KILROOT GRAVEYARD - County Antrim

BLAIR To the memory of William Blair of Carrickfergus who died 4th May 1790 aged 39 years. Also his wife Mary who died 29th Dec 1812 aged 64 years. Likewise 4 of their children Mary, Hugh, Margaret, and Thomas. Here also are interred the remains of the last survivor of the family, Daniel Blair, merchant, Carrickfergus, who died 22nd February 1854 aged 74 years.

BLAIR: Erected by John Blair in memory of his wife Mary who departed this life 24th Augt. 1822 aged 30 years. Also his daughter Martha M'Gowan Blair, who departed this life 12th July 1850 aged 22 years. Also his daughter Elizabeth who died 3rd Jany. 1851 aged 19 years. Also his wife Elizabeth who departed this life 2nd August 1857 aged 60 years. The above named John Blair died 3rd Dec. 1860 aged 77 years. Also his son William who died 12th March 1863 aged 33 years.

BLAIR: Erected by John Blair in memory of his wife Mary who departed this life 27th June 1864 aged 21 years. Also his second wife Isabella Blair who died 27th October 1867. And his youngest daughter Jane Martha Isabella who died in infancy. The above named John Blair died 13th June 1874 and was interred in Brooklyn Cemetery, USA.

ALEXANDER: Thomas BLAIR Alexander who died 30th June 1842 aged 11 years, s/o James Alexander and his wife, Margaret. James was a merchant in Carrickfergus.

SHAW: Martha Blair, wife of Robert Shaw, who died 31st May 1915 aged 64 years. And their daughter Margaret Blair Shaw who died 4th October 1920.


THE NEW BURYING GROUND - Belfast, County Antrim

Willaim Annesley BLAIR, eldest son of James Blair of ..... who died the 27th day of August 1810 aged 4 years. Ebenezer Blair who died the 5th day of December 1811 aged 23 years. James Blair of ..... who died the 7th day of February 1818, aged 73 years. Mary Hodgen Blair, youngest daughter of the said James Blair, who died the 31st day of October 1818 aged ... years. Sarah Blair, widow of the said James Blair who died the 15th day of March 1866 aged 84 years. [The will of Sarah Blair, late of Clearstream Cottage in county of Antrim, widow, who died 15 March 1866, was proved at Belfast 27 July 1866 by the oath of James Kennedy Blair of Liverpool in the county of Lancaster, England, judge of the Liverpool County Court the sole executor. Effects under 200 pounds. Re-sworn at Liverpool April 1868 under 600 pounds.]

Also his daughter Mary Jane Blair who died the 2nd Feby. 1911 aged 51 years. Also Samuel Thomas Blair who died March 20th 1921 aged 57 years. Also John Blair who died 4th Feby. 1929 aged 69 years.

KANE: Erected by James Kane in memory of his beloved wife Elizabeth Blair who departed this life ... June 1874 aged 28 years. Also his son Nelson Kane who died on the 17th December 1..74 aged 2 years and 5 months. Also his son Thomas Kane who died in infancy.

MCCLEERY: [white limestone] Erected by James McCleery in memory of his wife Jane McCleery who died 11th Jany. 1898 aged 61 years. And her mother Jane Blair who died 10th Sept. 1891 aged 88 years.

MCKINSTRY: [MD VIII, 222, with a winged hour-glass carved at the top. It has been set up in modern McKinstry enclosure and the name obliterated by "Eliza Blair'. The year has been changed to 1852 and the age to 40] Here lyeth ye body of Margaret McNinch who departed Oct. ye 1st 1752 aged 67 years, late wife to Alexander McKinstry.

The above-named Thomas Blair departed this life 20th February 1880 aged 85 years. His grand-daughter Matilda Blair died 22nd March 1888 aged 4 years. And his son James Blair died 17th Decr. 1919 aged 83 years. Also Annie, wife of the above named James Blair, who died 24th August 1926 aged 82 years.

MAWHINNEY: (Lead lettering in white marble, frieze of ivy.) erected by Arthur Mawhinney in memory of his mother Ann SEMPLE who died 22nd June 1870 aged 85 years. His daughter Agnes died 1st September 1879 aged 28 years. Also his wife Easther BLAIR who died 17th June 1894 aged 69 years. The above-named Arthur Mawhinney died 3rd Jany. 1905 in his 82nd year. His grandchild Arthur Mawhinney who died in infancy. Nellie E. Mawhinney died 5th April 1923 aged 21 years. Also Maud Mawhinney died 8th July 1929 aged 24 years. Mary Mawhinney died 3rd Dec. 1949, wife of David Mawhinney died 19th Feb. 1950. Also Margaret Hume Mawhinney, daughter of the above David and Mary Mawhinney, died 19th April 1965. (Mason:-) T. Also his daughter Agnes BLAIR who departed this life 13th December 1881 aged 19 years. The above-named Daniel Barron departed this life 18th February 1907 aged 91 years. Also his beloved wife Helena Barron who departed this life 25th February 1908 aged 91 years. Also their son Robert Barron who departed this life 21st October 1915 aged 66 years. Also their son William Hugh Barron who departed this life 14th January 1922 aged 65 years.

STUART: (Sandstone lying flat in front of Charles Stuart who died in 1870, formerly mounted on the wall.) (In) memory of Charles Stuart of ...(n)ee who departed this life 23rd Augt. 1823 aged 10 years. (Al)so his mother Jane BLAIR, 11th Decr. 1826 aged 47 years. ....end when dead is but removed from sight .......in the lustre of eternal light: .......en the parting storms of life are o’er: May (yet) rejoin us on som(e) happier shore. Also S(amue)l Stuart his father who died 4th M(arch) 1844 aged 70 years.

STUART: (Granite tablet mounted on wall.) In memoriam Charles Stuart who died 1st Jany. 1870 aged 29 years. Also his father Samuel Blair Stuart who died 30th April 1884 aged 74 years. His mother Eliza Stuart died 17th Feby. 1893 aged 77 years. His wife Isabella Stuart died 8th Nov. 1910 aged 77 years. Also his son Samuel Blair Stuart who died Feby. 1936 aged 67 years. And Mary Ellen, wife of the above Samuel Blair Stuart, died 14th October 1943 aged 67 years. Parents of Isabella SNODDY and Helen Mary. (The will of Samuel Blair Stuart, late of Carneal, Raloo, county Antrim, farmer, who died 30 April 1884 at same place, was proved at Belfast 1 April 1887 by David Gray of Carneal, Thomas McWilliam of Ballyrickard More in said county, and John Snoddy of Browndod in said county, farmers, the executors. Effects 321 pounds, 13s, 4d.)
